Egeria is built on a single promise: what you write stays yours. This policy explains exactly what that means. It is written to be read, not to hide behind.
Who we are
Egeria is operated by Jessyka Mathews, a sole proprietor (the "Operator," "we," "us"). You can reach us any time:
- Mail: 2166 W Broadway #1008, Anaheim, CA 92804-2446, USA
- Phone: (714) 400-2632
- Email: hello@slapforge.com
The short version
- Egeria has no accounts, and nothing you write is ever stored on any server of ours.
- We do not collect, sell, rent, or share your personal information.
- We do not track you, run ads, or use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- Your data lives on your device. If you are signed into iCloud, Apple may back it up to your own private iCloud, where we cannot read it.
- One feature, Deep Sight, is off by default and entirely your choice: if you turn it on, a few distilled observations (never your journal pages) pass through our relay to be woven into a personalized reading — and the relay stores nothing. See "Deep Sight" below.
What Egeria stores, and where
Everything you create in Egeria is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. This includes your name and birth date (used to compute your numerology and daily stack), your focus intention, your journal entries and dreams, your decisions and their outcomes, your intentions, your rituals, and your card history.
This information never leaves your device except as described in "iCloud backup" and "Deep Sight" below. We never see it.
iCloud backup (optional, free, private)
If you are signed into iCloud on your device, Egeria stores your data in your own private iCloud database (CloudKit). This is:
- Free. There is no charge from us. It uses your existing Apple iCloud storage.
- Private. It is stored under your Apple ID, controlled by you and encrypted by Apple. We have no access to it and cannot read it.
- Yours. It means your place is not lost if you delete and reinstall Egeria — sign into the same iCloud account and your journal, decisions, and progress return.
Your use of iCloud is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. If you are not signed into iCloud, your data simply stays on the single device, with no backup.
Apple Intelligence (on-device AI)
On supported devices, Egeria uses Apple Intelligence's on-device models to write reflections from your own words (for example, a weekly journal letter). This processing happens entirely on your device. Your entries are not sent to us, to Apple's servers, or to any third party for this purpose. On devices without Apple Intelligence, Egeria uses built-in written responses instead.
Deep Sight (optional, off by default)
Deep Sight is a Pro feature that adds a personalized written reading beneath your card of the day. It is off by default and only ever runs if you turn it on in Settings.
When Deep Sight is on, the app composes a small set of distilled observations on your device — your card of the day and its traditional meaning, your first name, what you say you are calling in, words that recur in your writing, the names of practices you tend, the general weather of your week's moods, and where you stand in your own cycles. These observations are sent over an encrypted connection through our relay to an AI writing service (Anthropic's Claude), which writes the reading and returns it to your device. This happens once a day for your card of the day.
Deep Sight also writes your dealt spreads in the Reading Room the same way, once per spread you deal. For a spread, the request additionally includes the question you typed for that reading — the question is the reading's spine — the cards dealt with their positions, and, if you are reading for a friend, the first name you entered for them. If you would rather your question never leave the device, leave Deep Sight off: the built-in reading engine writes every spread on the device itself.
What this does not include: your journal entries, your dreams, the private text of your Clarity decisions, your birth date, your contact details, or any identifier tied to you. There is no account, so no request can be linked to who you are.
Our relay stores nothing — no logs of your text, no history, no identity. The returned reading is saved only on your device. Anthropic processes the request to generate the reading and does not use it to train its models. Turn Deep Sight off at any time in Settings and nothing further is ever sent.
Her living voice is a second, separate switch, also off by default. When on, a small play button appears beside your weekly letter and a reading's closing summary; tapping it sends only that exact text through our relay to a voice service (ElevenLabs), which speaks it in Morganna's voice and returns the audio. The audio is kept on your device so the same words are never sent twice. The relay stores nothing here either. Your journal pages are never sent — only the already-composed letter or summary you chose to hear.
Purchases
Egeria offers an optional subscription, Egeria Pro, sold through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes all payments. We never receive your card number or billing details. Apple shares only anonymous confirmation that a subscription is active. Manage or cancel your subscription in the App Store under your Apple ID.
Notifications
Egeria can send you local notifications (a daily nudge, a reminder to revisit a decision). These are scheduled and delivered on your device. No notification content is sent to us or through our servers.
What we do not do
We do not: collect analytics, use cookies or advertising identifiers, include third-party tracking or advertising SDKs, sell or share your data, build a profile of you, store anything you write on any server, or transmit your journal or decisions anywhere — the only network feature, Deep Sight, is off by default, sends only distilled observations, and stores nothing.
Children
Egeria is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone (we do not collect personal information at all).
Your rights and choices
Because your data lives on your device, you are in complete control of it:
- See it: it is all in the app.
- Delete it: use Settings → Delete All Data in the app, or delete the app, which removes the local copy. To remove an iCloud backup, delete the app's data from iCloud in your device's iCloud settings.
- Take it with you: your data stays with your device and your Apple ID.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR), you may have additional rights. Since we do not hold your personal information, most such requests are satisfied by the controls above; if you have questions, email hello@slapforge.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and post the new version here and in the app. Material changes will be highlighted.
